We believe that adventure and wilderness environments provide the most inspiring and effective venue for the development of these attributes and to begin the journey to fulfilling that purpose.

Adventure and wilderness experiences are not an escape from the daily grind. They are reality where the true self always eventually surfaces, free of the walls and masks built up through time and experience.  Adventure experiences, if paid attention to, can provide the lessons most needed for each person at that exact moment of their life.

This may be a time of purification, of testing, of building, of confirmation, of waking, of changing, of envisioning, or something totally different. However, whatever is needed is there for the taking, if they choose to seek it. At the Ranch, individuals, families, and teams are given the resources and opportunity to determine where they are in life, and what they truly need to continue their journey to become the men and women they were created to be.

The Ranch prides itself on its safety, competency, and professionalism. Great Circle has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™. CAMPER AGES: 15+ Years of Age (Parent Participation Encouraged!)

TYPE OF CAMP: Overnight/Sleepaway. Spring Semester (early June) & Fall Semester (late September)

CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.

AFFILIATION(S): No religious, political, or military affiliations!

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: One Shepherd Regiment offers students a command experience!

Each weeklong semester presents missions of simulated battle scenarios for high-stakes planning and decision-making. Results are analyzed by the entire patrol after each mission. This training program involves real firearms and MILES 2000, the most advanced force-on-force simulation in the world.

SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS:

One Shepherd is ABSOLUTELY NOT a "troubled youth" program!

Real firearms and Blank-Fire munitions are employed throughout this training. This program is appropriate for responsible, accountable individuals.

Participants must be able to carry up to 60 pounds of gear across uneven terrain in all visibility and weather conditions.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Team Sports, Academics, Adventure, and more. One Shepherd Is Leadership Education Through Adventure!

Our Principle Learning Tool Is Live-action War Gaming Scenario With AR15 Rifles, Blank-Fire Munitions, & MILES 2000 Force-on-force Simulation To Explore The Tactics Of Patrolling Operations.

CAMP LOCATION: The One Shepherd Regiment is located 14 miles east of Osage Beach, MO on 220 acres of wilderness land.

CAMP FACILITIES: The One Shepherd facility is a military-style base camp. Numerous tented sleeping quarters house 16 Warriors each. Dining is served in a large tent (MGPTS). The camp includes an open-air latrine with flush toilets and showers. And three days per each weeklong semester are spent on patrol, sleeping on the ground, and eating MRE in primitive patrol bases.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: One Shepherd was established in 1981. This leadership program is innovative in approach, and is unlike anything offered outside of the US Armed Forces. This is experiential learning through expeditionary adventure!

Our philosophy is simple. Fun. Mastery of any task or art requires the joy of learning. When learning is fun, a safe place to fail is established, and the result is that learners will continue to strive toward mastery.

Our staff officers and cadre instructors are military veterans and/or graduates of our leadership program. They are further validated through an in-house yearlong certification program with a specific focus on instructional methodology of the Experiential Learning Model (ELM) and Cognitive Apprenticeship Model (CAM).

Additionally, each cadre instructor has undergone a basic first aid and CPR course. Most have advanced first aid training such as the Combat Life Saver Course (CLS) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The One Shepherd Regiment is a Warrior-Leader community. Staff officers and cadre instructors are recruited directly from graduates of our 3-year leadership development program. If selected, these candidates undergo a fourth year of certification.
